We Left Los Angeles For The Woods Of Colorado

listening to the call of nature

It’s been almost 3 months since my husband and I packed up our lives in Los Angeles and moved to Colorado. My birthplace and into the woods.

I had spent an entire decade living in Los Angeles, the city was great to me. Offering me boundless opportunities, friends, and memories I am so grateful for. Leaving a place with such deep roots seemed like a distant dream. However, I carried this dream of leaving like a weight on my heart.

Often times, my mind would wander off as I drove through the concrete jungle I called home. Taking me to distant places outside of this city that both excited and terrified me. It always felt like I had one foot out the door, waiting for an opportunity to carry me away.

In December of 2019, I decided to get a life coach. I had a wonderful job, a thriving community, an amazing husband. But deep inside, I felt unhappy with my environment—I felt stuck. One of the first things I told her was how much my soul was craving living in nature. That the city no longer inspired me, it only overwhelmed me, and I wanted to find a way to make my life work to leave.

As we started working together, clarity started to come into my blurred vision. The thing about finding clarity is sometimes we need an outside perspective. Luckily for me, my life coach who I now describe as my guardian angel, Rebekah Nanfria. Was exactly the guide I needed. She helped me to recognize that I did have the ability to make the life I wanted, I just needed to focus, and trust. She also reminded me that taking a risk can bring the greatest rewards.

Long story short, with the support of my husband, my life coach, and my heart, we made the decision to leave the city. Both with trust and knowing that it would be okay.

We moved to Colorado amidst a worldwide pandemic because we simply had to listen to what was calling our hearts. Ever since being here, my soul feels more landed and at-peace than it has in a long time, and I am deeply grateful for that.  As we continue to move through a great awakening and evolution, may we remember what keeps our hearts beating. Whether it is small things or big things, don’t lose sight or attention on what is calling your heart.

The thing about life, I have now learned, is you cannot wait. The key to making a daydream turn into reality is to get clear about what it is in your life you are seeking. Then dive into the opportunity to guide you on the path. Remember that more times than not, the risk is worth the reward.

Listen close, you never know what opportunities may arise.
