Day 1: Air/Vayu

Experiencing air and grounding back down with vata’s first element

In this 23-minute flow, we will be balancing Vata’s air qualities.

Using the Ayurvedic principles of opposition, we will move through grounding, stabilizing postures to calm the mind, and relax the body.

According to Ayurveda, each season has its own associated Dosha (physiological energy). Fall is associated with Vata because Vata energy embodies that of air, change, dry, and moving. If you think about the physicality of fall;  the leaves are changing, the air temperature begins to cool, and the sun sets sooner—all of this is Vata energy at play.

Use this class to soothe both your Vata constitution and your mind/body during Vata season.

Day 2: space/Akasha

opening space in the body, connecting to vata’s second element

In this 40-minute class, we will be focusing on the second element of Vata: space, or ether.

Just like air, space has its own properties within the body. In this class, we will focus on opening this space in the body, along with connecting to the limitless potential that space creates for us.

This class acts as an anchor to realign and rebalance feelings of anxiety, physical bloating, scattered mind, forgetfulness, uncertainty, and insecurity.

Using Ayurvedic principles of opposition, we will move through grounding, stabilizing postures to balance these unpleasant sensations. With a goal of feeling limitless, infinite, inspired, creative, open-minded, energetic, expressive, joyous, focused, and communicative. All qualities of a balanced Vata.

Day 3: earth/Prithvi

Connecting To Kapha’s Mother Earth Energy

In this 30-minute class, we will be focusing on working with the first element of Kapha: Earth.

Using earth’s grounded energy, we will be finding stability. Working with nourishing our connective tissues and exploring what it feels like to really find rootedness.

Kapha season begins towards the end of winter and into spring. Kapha people are often described as being steady, grounded, and devoted. When balanced Kapha is dependable, steady, the caretaker, down to earth, loyal, and calm. Out of balance, however, can bring on depression, allergies, colds, lethargy, trouble letting go of things/people—attachment.

Consider how these physical sensations arrive during Kapha season. Paying attention to these imbalances a Kapha needs daily exercise, mental and physical stimulation, warming, light food, early rise, and declutter.

Day 4: water/Apas

hydrating the bodies fluids first thing in the morning

Enter this 28-minute morning class sleepy-eyed and fresh out of bed. Morning time is Kapha time. We will move slowly and with intention, focusing on the second element of Kapha: Water.

Tuning in to the clay-like energy of Kapha—this class is designed to awaken the heavy energy that comes with waking up first thing in the morning. We will explore fluidity and healing through water visualization.

Kapha energy is heart-centered, giving, and healing. Think about the healing qualities of water and how it shows up in the body as we move through postures meant to refresh and awaken.

Day 6: fire/Tejas

soothing Our Agni—Our Digestive Flame

In this 44-minute class, we will be connecting to the the first element of Pitta: Fire or in Sanskrit, Agni. Summer is Pitta season and embodies Pitta’s warm, hot, sharp, and bright qualities.

According to Ayurveda, our digestive fire (Agni) is what controls so many of our emotions. When our digestive fire is imbalanced, that’s when we may experience all sorts of physical, and emotional upset.

This class acts as an anchor to soothe Pitta imbalances. Cooling our digestive fire through grounding postures that honor our internal flame, assist in calming stomach upse, and inflammation.

Sending deep love and surrender to the beautiful flame that burns inside of all of us so that it shines brightly and fully.

Day 6: water/Apas

Cooling The Body With A Chandra Namaskara—Moon Salutation

In our final class in Redefining Our Connection To Nature Using Ayurveda & Yoga, we will end by honoring the moon.

In this 32-minute class, we will be exploring the lava-like qualities of Pitta. Comprised of both fire and water.

Connecting to the water element of Pitta. Using the Ayurvedic principles of opposition to cool the fiery Pitta nature, we will move through a Chandra Namaskara—Moon Salutation. Instead of building heat with a Suryanamaskar—Sun Salutation.

Being that the moon controls the oceans, the fluids in the body, and cools our earth at night, we will connect with this energy to soothe our internal Pitta flame.
