23-Minute Intro Into Ayurveda: Balancing Vata

In this 23-minute flow, we will be balancing the air qualities of the Vata Dosha. Using Ayurvedic principles of opposition, we will move through grounding, stabilizing postures to calm the mind, and relax the body.

Ayurveda is the ancient sister science of yoga that looks at our physical constitution or our Dosha as a way to address dis-ease in the body. Each one of us holds distinct traits that determine our perspective Dosha. The 3 Doshas are: Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. To learn yours, I highly recommend taking this quiz from Sahara Rose, my favorite Ayurveda experts.

According to Ayurveda, each season has its own associated Dosha (physiological energy). For instance, fall is associated with Vata because the Vata energy embodies that of air, change, dry, and moving. If you think about the physicality of fall;  the leaves are changing, the air temperature begins to cool, and the sun sets sooner—all of this is Vata energy at play.

Use this class to soothe both your Vata constitution and your mind/body during the Vata season.
